The workforce influences every aspect of providing high-quality patient care, including the importance of the work environment and culture. Having a healthy workforce is critical to achieving the Triple Aim: delivering care that is timely, cost-effective and of the highest quality.
This presentation will showcase how Nicklaus Children’s Health System used a unique workforce planning strategy to attract, engage and retain clinical talent in an increasingly competitive environment with predicted shortages. This health system implemented an innovative 3-tiered well-being model that addresses health, financial security and work/life balance. Its purpose was achieving a long-term holistic well-being culture that would generate a more engaged, productive workforce.
The health component of the well-being plan has been in place since 2013. Michael Kushner, senior VP & chief talent officer, will outline the core elements of this plan, including a comprehensive health evaluation, immediate and condition-specific health coaching for members with health risks, and personalized health content and communication with a PCP/specialist. Mr. Kushner will share aggregate data showing that employees are getting healthier, employee engagement has increased, turnover has decreased and the organization is realizing a return on investment.
