Spotlight on hospitals in health equity, diversity and inclusion

In 2012, Cone Health established the Black and African American Healthcare Network Group (BAHNG). Created to raise awareness and address health care disparities, BAHNG consists of managers and front-line staff in clinical and nonclinical roles. Although a majority of the group’s members identify as black or African American, other racial and ethnic groups are also represented. In 2014, Renown developed a diversity and inclusion committee that is leading diversity and health care initiatives throughout the organization. The committee, composed of clinical and nonclinical staff, partners with local organizations that support diversity and inclusion within the community. The diversity and inclusion committee’s efforts increase the awareness of Renown Health’s health equity initiatives.
