The AHA’s Institute for Diversity and Health Equity just wrapped up another distinguished year, where its work resonated with and celebrated AHA members and stakeholders across the field. With multiple convenings held, initiatives launched and an annual conference completed this year, IFDHE stayed the course by working with hospitals and health systems toward an equitable, healthier future for all individuals.

The Health Equity Roadmap: One Year Later
In March 2022, the Institute for Diversity and Health Equity (IFDHE) launched the Health Equity Roadmap, a national framework to advance health equity in hospitals and health systems. The roadmap is a resource to address health disparities, improve health outcomes and drive organizations to become more equitable.

Using Innovation to Advance Health Equity
Our most recent Health Equity Innovation Summit took place Oct. 10 in AHA’s Region 6, which includes members from North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, Missouri and Minnesota. This one-day event brought together C-suite hospital leaders, community members and patient advocates to explore regional challenges and co-develop potential solutions to accelerate actions to advance health equity.
